Tanning Question
If you are pregnant, has anyone ever told you you shouldn't lay in the sun?
A co-worker is 5 months and was upset this morning because her friend told her it was bad for the baby because it would get too hot. She's been laying in her backyard not in a tanning bed.
I've never heard of such a thing. Anyone else?

Re: Tanning Question
I actually have heard this. But, not sure if it's more of a wivestale or the truth. Just tell her to call her OB.

Re: Tanning Question
OK, she took your advice and called. She wouldn't do it when I told her to!
He said there is nothing wrong with it but not to go out for more than an hour at a time.

Re: Tanning Question
I went to Jamaica when I was 12 weeks, I was told just go in the sun in moderation.
You might want to tell her to be careful, I normally don't burn and the first day I was out in the sun I burned my legs pretty bad, bad enough that I could not walk the next day. Granted the Caribbean sun is stronger than it is here but still be careful.

Re: Tanning Question
I just went to Turks for a week - I wore a lot of sunblock.
even though I wore a bikini at times I put a shirt or towel over my belly -and the baby was fine.
Make sure you hydrate - that is the most important thing.

Re: Tanning Question
As long as you stay hydrated and don't overheat yourself it is fine to be in the sun.
