When at work...
Do you Pick up the phone when a client calls, or do you let it go to VM & call them back?

For some reason, I never pick up the phone. Either at home or work, I'm just not a phone person. I will respond to people quicker via email. I don't even know why I have a cell phone, never use it, its either always dead or I forget it.

I normally pick up..
at my old job we had caller ID and I would usually let it go to VM....then one day I complained to my boss that I always had like 10 VMs...and he was like, well start picking up your calls! (in a joking way!)

it depends on what I'm doing when the phone rings, or who it is. If it's one of my boss' I ALWAYS pick up. Or if it's my boss phone, I pick up. I work in IT, and it's usually a big no-no to not pick up the phone.

Even better, onetime I had 59 vmails. It took me all morning to listen to them...

9 times out of 10 I will let it go to voicemail. Also If I dont recognize the # I won't pick it up. I rather have some time to prepare before getting thrown into a crisis. When they leave a VM at least I can look things up and get my ducks in a row before calling them back.

This is me to a "T". Though, at work I answer the phone whenever possible-as long as I am in my office and not in a meeting or conference call.

I usually pick it up so I can get the issue over with right away. If I'm on the other line, asst gets it.

Ditto. The only person I always pick up for is my husband. If I don't recognize the number, I don't pick up. If I'm waiting for an answer from someone, I'll pick up. But if they're annoying on the phone, I'll let them vm it.

I let it go to VM so they can hear the message saying they are supposed to call the 800 number... and then they leave a VM anyway.
