Today's Newsday

there must be a million open houses this weekend!

I haven't bought a Friday Newsday in quite a while. I have never seen so many open houses in 1 weekend... or so many "just reduced" Chat Icon

Re: Today's Newsday

I get the paper everyday. the "just reduced" or "price improved" headings are on the steady rise. Not to mention I have seen pics of the same houses every week since the fall in some cases. I'm a nut with it, I read the whole real estate section twice-Fridays & Sundays. It drives my hubby nutsChat Icon
I was talking to a patient of mine(we always talk real estate) today that owns over 15 homes (he doesn't work anymore, just collects rent) and he says he is getting excited because he's sure the market isn't even close to being done adjusting. He said by 2008-2009 we will be at the lowest point in the cycle. He also told me his feeling on interest rates & he said people should still be pleased.
He once had a mortgage for 11%Chat Icon
He only buys homes to keep forever so he's not worried about the current value. He said this is his third time watching the cycle happen.
People do need to be cautious w/ HELOCs & stuff now. Gotta leave something for a rainy day.

Definitely, I read Newsday everytime I am out at my parents for the weekends and I see a lot of "just reduced" headlines too.

Re: Today's Newsday

I know it seems like nothing is selling. In my neighborhood houses would sell in 2-4 weeks. Now it seems like nothing is selling even after they lower the prices.
