Bakers - questions about replacing oil with applesauce

I want to do this with brownies.

If the recipe calls for 1 cup of vegetable oil, then do I use 1 cup of applesauce to replace it?

Could I use 1/2 cup of oil and 1/2 cup of applesauce?

Does using the applesauce alter the taste too much?

Thank you!

I never did this with brownies, but I always use applesauce instead of oil for cupcakes. I use the same amount of applesauce as I would if I used oil. I haven't noticed a difference in taste, but the cupcakes are much more moist. Everyone loves them (especially DH).

I love using applesauce to make cakes...but when you do it for brownies---they come out a little different. I dont think they are fudgy. They usually come out cakey---but when you get used to them, they are okay.

My SIL does this all the time, and she says they come out great! Never tried it myself though.

I always use apple sauce when I bake. I love it- it's much moister and tastes really good.

Mel- how were the brownies?

Would you believe that I just found out that I'm allergic to flour so - no brownies just yet!
