Ahhh....the joys of different cultures. Obviously, since this is a Long Island website, not many of us are directly privileged to the diversity of other culture's festivities and celebrations of bringing new life into thie world. As a cop in the South Bronx, I have been priviied to MANY new cultural celebrations.....including bridal showers held in the local bar/billiards rooms which house our local gang members, children's birthday parties held at 2:30 in the morning with 20 or more 10 year olds running around the streets, and yes.....baby showers and baptisms which (believe it or not) often erupt into a violent druken mess which we are called to clean up.
After we get done arresting 10 people for disorderly conduct for spitting at us, swinging at us, or locking up a perp with a gun who just shot "his baby mamma".....we are told by the "innocent bystanders" that it was "Just a baby shower." When we tell them it 3:30 in the morning and the 5-7 year olds should be in bed....we get dirty looks because we "just don't understand"....
So, yes ladies.....believe it or not....this is 100% possible and happens on a weekly basis in the South Bronx!!!
