Re: Digital Cameras
I would take a look at Sony, Canon or Nikon (good brands that take good pics) and these days the megapixel are moving up so anything over 5 should hold u over for a bit.
Im hoping for a new one on my bday but the one I want is $500. Sony digital 8mp with a touch screen!
ETA: Bestbuy could be a start.

Re: Digital Cameras
I have the Canon EOS Rebel XT. 8 Megapixels. Very good camera. Kind of $$$ but so worth it.

Re: Digital Cameras
Only cameras I know a little bit about are digital SLRs (which are $500+). I would say stick to the Nikons or Canons - go for the highest megapixel you can get. You'll also need to upgrade the memory card.
A good website for a digital camera reviews is dpreview.com

Re: Digital Cameras
Ok just looked at my consumer reports subscription.
Top options for Compact Models are: Sony Cyber-shot $220 Canon Powershot A620 $325 Fujifilm Fine Pix F10 $315 Kodak Easyshare z700 $245
Top options for Subcompact Models are: Canon Powershot SD500 Digital ELPH $330 Kodak Easyshare V550 $295 Pentax Optio SV $280
Also if you're a priceshopper, go to B&H Photo . Get the prices there & try to make other places beat the price, ie. Ritz Camera. I buy all my camera equipment from B&H.

Kodak Easyshare V550 $295
This is the one we have. I like it. I do wish the screen was a little bigger though.

Re: Digital Cameras
I have a 3 year old cannon powershot SD 400 with 3.2 megapixels and it is really easy to use, has survived a number of accidental falls, and takes great photos. I would upgrade the memory though.
