Picture places - first time
All the picture talk has gotten me thinkin'
I need some info about this...
Where to have them done?
You need an appointment?
How long does it take to get your photos?
Can you buy the disk?
How many pictures do they take?
Do you need to bring your own stuff/ props?
How many outfit changes can you do?
Anything else I need to know??

Where to have them done?
I've only been to Kiddi Kandids so I don't know about anywhere else.
You need an appointment? No, I did not have an apt either time. The first time was a Monday during the day (2 ish) the second time was this past Monday at about 4:30....both times were not crowded at all!
How long does it take to get your photos? First you choose what you would like, then you wait about 10 mintues and you get them right there.
Can you buy the disk? Not sure.....with the package I got the CD came with it.
How many pictures do they take? I believe they take whatever they need to get the shot but you get 20 mintues. DS was actually very good during his shoot so they only had to take 1 or two of each pose. Then he showed me and I chose which to keep of that pose......from that I chose my pictures.
Do you need to bring your own stuff/ props? No, they have it all there
How many outfit changes can you do? I did 3 on our last visit.
Anything else I need to know?? It's not easy choosing pictures...for me this took W A Y longer than the actually shoot

Where to have them done? I got Alison's pictures done at Sears Portrait Studio
You need an appointment? They prefer you have an appt - but I worked out with them to come when they had a bunch of appts available, just in case I was running late or Ali was cranky
How long does it take to get your photos? To take the actual picture - about a half hour. To decide what I wanted - I think about 45 minutes
Can you buy the disk? I bought the disk - but I also bought a package. Not sure how it works when you don't purchase other things.
How many pictures do they take? All together, I think she took about 10 pictures. But you only get 6 poses - and they pick the best ones from them 
Do you need to bring your own stuff/ props? I didn't - Sears had everything. You can bring in a blanket, toy or anything that was special to you that you wanted in the pictures
How many outfit changes can you do?
They told me over the phone - 2 outfits, but I kept her in one - it was easier.
Anything else I need to know?? Not that I can think of right now - but if I think of something, I will let you know.

I've been to Kiddie Kandids and Zoot Shoot
You need an appointment? Not for KKs. I went early & shopped around BRU for 45 minutes before I got in. Zoot Shoot, you definitely need an appointment - and well in advance.
How long does it take to get your photos? KK about 20 minutes after I choose. Zoot Shoot - about 7-10 days.
Can you buy the disk? I didn't ask at KKs, it wasn't available at Zoot Shoot when I went.
How many pictures do they take? KKs only took 6 poses. I'm not sure how many photos they took. Zoot Shoot many, many shoots. I only liked a few.
Do you need to bring your own stuff/ props? No, they have it all there (for both places)
How many outfit changes can you do? For KKs I was about to get in 3 both times I went. For Zoot Shoot, only one. They were swamped as it was prime time for Christmas photos.
Anything else I need to know??
I wasn't happy with Zoot Shoot. I was very happy with Kiddie Kandids. I guess one thing I'd suggest is to go with solid colors rather than prints for a classic photo look. Book early if you're looking for holiday photos.

For instance, these were Ali's '6' poses
They took a couple of other shots - but these were the 'main' ones that you can pick from.
The others were like shots of her feet, just her hands, other ones were she wasn't smiling. It seems as though at Sears they took a bunch and out of them all they picked the best six for you to chose from.

I have always sworn by kiddie kandids in babies r us. However my sister in law had my neice's done at JC Penney's and they came out phenomenol!!!!!! So I would say either or but JC Penney's takes better 1st pictures
