I would drink some hot tea with honey. Also what helped me tremendously was to eat very slowly a teaspoon of honey. It coated my throat. PS I don't eat bee honey, I eat the clover honey.
Eta-or you could gargle with warm salt water, yucky, but good for a sore throat.

I took Vicks cough and cold liquid. My Dr said it was fine and it really coats the throat well
