Can I ask a dumb question about the flu
I know they say many people actually die from the flu a year but what do they die from?

Usually elderly are the ones who die from the flu. Their hearts and bodies just can't take the strain usually.

Re: Can I ask a dumb question about the flu
It's not dumb, it's a good question! I found this on webmd - it'll explain it better than I can:
Complications of flu can include bacterial pneumonia, dehydration, and worsening of chronic medical conditions, such as congestive heart failure, asthma, or diabetes. Children may get sinus problems and ear infections.
When the complications become severe is when fatality may occur. So really, it's sort of like AIDS. You don't necessarily die of it, you die because of it.

Re: Can I ask a dumb question about the flu
Thanks, I dont worry about myself I worry about my kiddies. I hope any antibodies I have from the flu I had YEARS ago gets passed to them and if they get the flu this year they will be ok...
they dont have any high risk factors and they are both breastfed and out of day care so I guess I should stop worrying. I tell ya, these kids are gonna kill me
