How does everyone clean their BBQ grill?
I love BBQing but I hate with a passion cleaning the cooking surface afterwards. Its so much work and I feel like I can never get them 100% clean. What am I doing wrong? Is there some wonder cleaner out there that I am not clued into?

try not to let it sit for too many days. We clean it as soon as the food is taken off, takes dh like 10 minutes with brillo

I put my rack in the oven on the cleaning cycle they come out looking brand new

there's a special wire brush they sell that you scrub the grill with. after grilling, let it cool down - and then scrub while it's still a little warm. dirt and any baked on foods should come right off.

Depends on what your grates are made of. I have ceramic ones and I use a cleaner that I soak them in. Same for my burners on my stove.

Every few weeks, I use Dawn Power Dissolover and a brillo to try and get them clean. In between, DH is famous for letting the grill heat up with aluminum foil over the entire grilling area, saying it works like a self cleaning oven -- the heat builds up and helps to melt the gook off the grills. Then we take the foil off and use the wire brush before cooking.
Plus, we use a lot of Pam spray before we cook.

I think I have cermaric grill... It acutally said to throw them in oven's self cleaner in the manual and I forgot all about it until I saw them at the begining of the season (can u say nasty).
I actually washed them a little in the sink to get some of the gunk off and then right in the oven killed to birds with one stone.

this is what we do - it gets rid of most of the grime, but I wouldn't want them cleaned to brand spankin' new and lose all those years of "seasoning"

?? But Simple Green has the LEAST chemicals of anything mentioned here as far as cleaners go... It is a natural cleaner.
"non-toxic, biodegradable, environmentally safer products used for household cleaning, industrial cleaning and professional and institutional applications"
I would rather that than most of those chemically charged cleaners there are out there..! Do you have any idea what is in something like Easy-Off??

I asked DH shouldn't he be the one grilling? He told me he didn't know how!
Seriously, how hard is it? Put meat on the grill, walk away, go back 10 minutes later, turn meat over, walk away. Go back 10 minutes later, take meat off grill, put on plate, and eat.
