What age is good for a movie outing?
My dh and I took my two year old son to see "Cars" yesterday late afternoon. He has been totally into the previews and seemed interested, but boy were we wrong. In the beginning he was amazed at the "big tv" and the whole set up, but he quickly lost interest towards the middle of the movie and started to get restless. After running to the row in front of us a couple of times a somewhat loud and I guess scary part came up in the movie which made him jump so he sat in my arms the rest of the time and quickly fell asleep right after. This surprised me because he rarely sleeps when we are out and when it is loud, but the movie was almost two hours long. Needless to say we won't be going to see another movie for a couple of years, but it made me wonder what age is good to take them? Oh btw, the movie was funny and cute. My dh and I both enjoyed it, but it won't go down in the books as one of the best all time Disney films.

cars is also a 2 hour movie.. I try to take my 2 year old to shorter movies ( we saw over the hedge today).. even then he gets restless a little. I also sit right up front even though I dont like too so that if he gets restless we arent bothering anyone.

Thank goodness we sat towards the front and to the left by no one so that we wouldn't bother anyone. We also went at 4:45pm so the theatre wouldn't be that crowded. But I defintitely should have looked to see how long it was before we went. Noted for future!!!

I take Christopher to the "Mommy and me" showings at Island 16. It's nice because they keep the lights on, but dim, the turn the volume down so it's not too loud, They start the movie on time and cut out all the previews (so you're not sitting there for much longer than the length of the movie) and you're with other understanding mommies, so nobody gets bothered if your child starts getting restless. Christopher doesn't pay much attention to the movie. He usually watches on and off inbetween snacking and napping.

Where is Island 16 theater and what days and times do they do the mommy and me movies?
