tips for weaning baby?
Does anyone have any tips on how to wean a baby from breastfeeding to formula? I am going to start weaning Talia in a few weeks so any suggestions will be helpful. TIA!

Re: tips for weaning baby?
Well since we've had to supplement from the get go I offer her a bottle at almost every session and now sometimes she only gets a bottle depending on when I last pumped. Sometimes her bottle is breastmilk and sometimes its formula. So she is used to taking both. I don't know if this will help you or not though because there are still times when she really only wants to nurse.
Are you having to go back to work?

Start skipping a feeding & giving her a bottle instead, than increase to 2 feedings and so on....that should eliminate the Dolly Parton effect. Most importantly be aware of your health when you do this - if you come down with a fever, it could be a sign of a breast infection and needs to be taken care of as soon as possible.

Re: tips for weaning baby?
I have another question -
Let's say she takes 5 feedings a day - can I wean her down to 1 or 2 a day - will the body automatically lower my milk production?
I am BF'ing Talia for three months - then I plan to wean her - use my frozen breast milk for another month or so then go to formula. - but I am thinking maybe I would nurse her at night still - is that possible?

It should from what I understand. Its a total supply/demand issue and your body doesn't make more until you give it away. That is why my LC gets on me about pumping to keep my milk supply up so I would think the opposite would be true.
