Jan mommies---6 month old meals....

what and how much are you giving?

We do 4 Tbsp cereal and 2 oz fruit for breakfast (soon to be 4 oz of fruit)

Lunch is a 4 oz veggie and sometimes 2 oz of fruit

Dinner is 4 Tbsp cereal and 4 oz veggie

Good? Too much?

I just keep feeding the kid until he won't open his mouth! I don't measure what I give him....

That makes me an official member of the CBMC...the Chorlton Bad Mothers Club!

Re: Jan mommies---6 month old meals....

Well I'm a late December Mommy but I was just going to post something about cutting down a meal...My ped said we need to eventually get her down to 3 meals a day...anyone done this yet?
We are still doing 5 (she goes down kinda late though-9pm ish). She eats solids twice a day right now, the rest is just formula.
We are just now starting to increase her solids intake, so I guess we'll see.
I unfortunately eyeball a lot of stuff, so racheeeee, I guess I'm joining the club too.Chat Icon

Re: Jan mommies---6 month old meals....

Andrea...what do you mean "down to 3 meals"...as in only 3 meals and no bottles or including the bottle with her meal? Or working up to 3 solid meals a day plus her bottles?

I am so confused! I feel sometimes she wants more but it seems to me for a little body, that cereal and one of those jars is so much food.

She'll take her bottle about 45 min later and that's usually 6-7 oz but sometimes as little as 4 oz.

She eats dinner around 4/ 4:15pm and goes to sleep usually around 6:15-6:45

Re: Jan mommies---6 month old meals....

That sounds good I think :

Sara is a Feb. baby and eats

1 1/2 tablespoons of cereal and one tablespoon of fruit for breakfast with a 4 ounce bottle of formula (also used for cereal)

Lunch: 7 1/2 ounce of formula

Dinner same as breakfast

sleeping time same as lunch

Does this sound alright

I think you could up the amount of cereal or fruit if she is still showing signs of wanting more. Or add in a veggie at lunch

Re: Jan mommies---6 month old meals....

I am like Andrea.. Brianna's schedule
3-4 oz formula at 5-6am
10-11am 3-4 oz formula 1oz in cereal (eyeball how much)1/2 jar stage 2 fruit or veggie everyother day 4tsp of prunes
3-4pm 4oz of formula 1oz in cereal (eyeball again) and 1/2 jar either fruits or veggie stage 2
8pm 4oz formula then BED at 8:30
12:00 Midnight 3-4oz
THEN we do it all over again!!!
If she seems more hungry at the solids feeding I just give more fruit or something..

Ummm, you know, I'm not sure now. I guess I thought he meant just 3 times a day of eating in general, instead of 5, but now I'm second guessing.Chat Icon

I guess maybe he meant for "in the future", like she doesn't have to eat 3x a day at this young age yet.Chat Icon

ETA: Duh, I didn't write Alex's typical eating schedule before:

6am:
6-8oz. formula, then back down for another hour or so of sleep.

10-10:30am:
fruit/veg, cereal, formula (fruit & cereal is eyeballed, but I guess it's about 1/2-3/4 Stage 1 jar fruit (she just started having fruit/veg 2x/day) then 2 tbsp. cereal. Formula is anywhere from 3-6ozs.

2:30pm:
8oz. formula

5:30pm: same as 10am (usually takes just a little more of everything).

9pm: 8oz formula, then off to bed.
