okay, my ipod is completely dead and won't charge.

Do you have different ways of charging it? Like a docking station or Bose system? (maybe it's the charger?)
Try blowing on the part of the ipod where it charges - sometimes dust particles get in.
is the screen completely blank or do you have an icon there?

no, I just have the usb cable and it's completely blank. i tried reseting but nothing.

T - try plugging it into your computer. It charges when it's plugged into the comp too - not just the wall outlet

how old is it? When we bought ours we were told that the battery life on ipods left some room to be desired, perhaps its shot?

Excellent point - I was told this too - that the battery life gets shortened like any rechargeable battery.
