Uhh, new pet mommy Bathroom question...

We just got katlyn yesterday, and everytime i've brought her out (6 times i guess) she's gone #2. Is it normal for a small dog to go so many times? Is this some sort of a marking thing? I'm going to ask the couple who was caring for her when i see them, but I just wanted to know if this was normal.

Thanks

Katlyn's new mommy... AKA "The Pooper Scooper"

It is normal for a puppy... how old is he again?
Has he been checked for worms? Not to sound too gross but is the #2 solid?

She's actually not a puppy - she's 7!

I was told that she got all of her shots, and and was checked in March (still waiting for her papers).

And yes, they're all solid Chat Icon

Thanks for anwsering!

if they're solid i wouldn't worry about it

we have jj on a schedule so he has 2 "poop" walks (longer walks) and 2 "pee" walks, short outside

congrats on being a new mommy (aka poop scooper!!) Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If they are solid, it most likely isnt odd. One question though, what food is he eating? The "higher end" or premium brands are more digestible and end up making the dog produce less waste because the dog is absorbing more of the food.

My mom had a dog (he passed away 2 months ago) that got walkes 4 times a day. Each time they walked him, he pooped 3 times...Yup, 3 timesChat Icon ...I would get so impatient when I had to dogsit.

It's probably normal. I wouldn't worry.

Little dogs do seem to go more b/c they don't have the space like big dogs. Just something I've noticed.

ETA: Does she have food out all day long? Is she nibbling all day? If so, that may be another reason why. You may have to limit when she eats.

Thats definitely a premium kibble.
Red asked a good question. Is the portion per day too much?

I spoke to the couple she was staying with, and they said the same thing. She's a pooper!

We give her about 1/2 cup in the morning, and 1/2 in the evening... and then maybe 2-3 small dog bones during the day.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
