When do infants stay awake longer?

Around what age did you find your baby could stay awake for longer than 2 hrs or so before they get cranky?

Noah is 6.5 months and he stays awake ALL DAY. EVERY DAY. Sometimes he has a nap, but most days he doesn't. ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. But he still gets tired after 2/3 hours awake.

By around 5 pm he starts to get cranky.

Charlie is four months and still sleeps some after about every two hours. It may be for 20 minutes, it may be for an hour. But I had to work on getting him to sleep, and I have to really watch for his cues or he gets very cranky!
