NYC teacher health benefits..I am confused

Ok...DH works for NYC DOE has GHI and does not like it and has had many problems.

I was thinking of doing Empire EPO because I really like Empire and had it when I was a TA on LI

NOW...is the Empire in the city the same as the one that teachers on LI have???????

AND do you get presciptions though your health benefits or throught the wellfare fund???

Prescriptions are through the Welfare Fund, though I think some insurance plans have optional riders (though I think the Welfare Fund is a better deal)

Not sure if Empire in the city is the same as LI- you may want to look on Empire's site.

I switched to HIP and it was terrible at first, but it got a lot better once private practice doctors started taking it (the centers were awful). My doctors are excellent and there are no co-pays, ever, and no payroll deductions. In nine years I've had no problems with it at all.
