do you feel wierd doing something with your SO.....
knowing they used to do it with their ex?
(Example a favorite vacation place)
Would you mention it to your SO & clear your chest of your thoughts?

I never gave it one thought...there are lots of things that DH has done with ex-gf that I do not know nor think about.
But if it's bothering you or if it's a place you don't want to go ever because he went there before, you should talk to him.

And I know my DH... I know if it did ever bother me and I'd talk to him about it-- he'd laugh at me and tell me I'm being absolutely ridiculous.

I agree too.
This post is reminding me of the King of Queens episode when Doug took Carrie away to their "favorite" place and he forgot that he really took his old girlfriend...

I used to be very bothered and intimidated by it when we were first dating, but once we moved in together I was more secure about me, him and our relationship so I got better.
What DOES bother me is that his mother STILL has a picture of the two of them together in his parent's house.
It's in a frame that says "FAMILY" across the top and it's DH, his ex-gf, his brother and SIL and his parents.
I know it's just a stupid picture, but it makes me mad every time I see it - I mean, we've been together for 6 years!!!

its more the opposite actually.
like i know he used to go camping, to disneyworld, mini golfing, etc etc with his Ex's.
and we dont and that gets me jealous.
but he said she did all the plannign for those things.
we do other stuff though.

That is just bizarre...but I know my ex's family still have pics of me all over the house. My Ex SIL always laughs and calls it a "Shrine to Gerty"...But I don't think he ever got serious with anyone else.

Early on into the relationship I asked him about it and he said it probably just slipped her mind.
About a year into us dating she changed some pictures in some frames (she has a lot of those collage-type frames in the house) and put some pics of me and DH in. But that picture has still remained (6 years later).
I've mentioned it to DH a couple other times and he has said that he's talked to her about it and she said she would change it, but it hasn't happened yet.
The thing is, she just redid the living room before the wedding and she moved it into a new place, so she HAD to see the pic.
I feel like a baby bringing it up again, so I've just let it drop.
But I will confess I have had the thought of "accidentally" giving it to the dog to destroy.

Me too!
Well after talking about it to others I realized I read too much into things. I know he wants to take me to places he loves....to share them with me, not be reminded of a past person. I am so silly sometimes.

Me too! When I went with DH to Florida to meet his parents...they had a collage on the wall and there was a picture of DH and his ex-wife. I told DH that I didn't appreciate that...he said he had asked his mother to take it down the last time he was there (alone).
Well...after the wedding, I made sure to tell MIL that now that she has some new pictures from the wedding, it would be a great time to update those old photos in the collage. The next time I went to Florida to see the IL's...our TY picture was nicely placed in the collage

I know very, very little about DH's dating past prior to me, and vice versa. And as much as I sometimes get very curious, I think it's better for me to let it go. I am the type who'd obsess.
