breastfeeding...the new weightloss! HA!
How many people have told you that you need to breastfeed bc it burns 500 calories and u can eat anything you want and will lose all the preggo weight! Its funny that its being sold to me as a weightloss strategy rather then for the baby!

It was true in my case with my daughter. I gained 25 pounds while pregnant and lost 50 pounds after her birth. I didn't need to loose all that weight, but it kept melting off. I nursed for 16 months (not by choice -but worth it and I will do it again)

I'm not sure if I can BF because I had a breats reduction over 10 yrs ago - the Dr. said I'll have to wait and see....

I'm breastfeeding and I lost all the pregnancy weight and thensome. I have been told by many people that it helps with the weight as well as getting your body back to shape. It's harder then it looks for a lot of women so try to get a support from BTDT moms. They are a lifesaver.
ETA...I think the reason that you lose weight is that you don't have any time to eat with someone attached to you most of the day and night.

It's been working for me. I gained 55lbs and at 2wks pp I had already lost 30lbs. Haven't weighed myself again yet but I'm almost back in my pre-preggo clothes!

I did lose 37lbs. in the first 8 weeks that I was BF-ing, but it slowed down near the end. Everyone is different.

Well, I could most certainly use the weight loss (I was overweight to begin with), so I really hope that BFing works out for us.

Its true, I lost lots of weight while breastfeeding, and have gained now that I have stopped....HOWEVER some of my friends who were bf'ing have lost lots of weight now that they have stopped...
So everyone is different really!

it worked for me. i gained 29 lbs w/ DS and by BF'ing for 7 weeks I lost all baby weight and almost an additional 10. i wish i could have done it for longer but i went back to work and just wasn't producing as much. i worried i'd gain the wieght back but so far so good!

Hey, don't knock it - I lost all my pregnancy weight with very minimal effort within 10 weeks, and I'm convinced it's because I BF'd.
