hot towel on forehead, vicks vapor rub on temples, dark room, soothing music and rest

Hi Kelly!
How are you? I actually do opposite and always put a bag of ice or a really cold/damp cloth on my face . It works wonders for me and dh!

I had severe sinus problems until I had surgery two years ago.
Here is what I did to help:
Spicy foods (hot and sour soup, etc) Hot shower (if you have a tub shower combo - turn on the shower and sit in the tub - have it as hot as you are comfortable with and let the water run over your head. I also would hold a hot wet face cloth over my face and between the water/steam/heat would open them up. Try to stay in 20-30 mins. or longer. I gave this tip to a few friends and they find that this helped a lot.
Try eating the spicy foods first then the shower. Stay away from dairy it will make it worse. Keep drinking a lot of fluids which will keep it loose and from tightening too much.
BTW cold someone mentioned above will feel good but the heat/steam is what you will need to open it up and get it to drain.
