When do you interview a Pediatrician & what do you ask?

I did this at about 35 weeks.

I asked About

Office hours
emergency's/on call procedures
Can I call the office with questions, who would I speak to?
Their feelings on medication (I am a non medication person, i don't like giving/taking meds just because or for every ailment)
Specialities of drs in office
Avg wait time of patients

In the waiting room I paid attention to actual wait times, attitudes of staff, how crowded it was, etc.

so far my ped is great! I wait less than 10 minutes, appts are convenient, all the drs have specialities besides pediatrics (like one is emotional disorders, learning disabilities, lactation consultant, etc). The dr's so far have returned my call within a couple hours.

aside from all the great info given above...I would ask some LIFers for refferrals for great drs. I switched my OBGYN to one of the girls drs and the office is wonderful!

One really important question to ask that my friends with kids said make sure they have is

a waiting room that is segregated from the sick kids. They said it ***** to go to check-up appointment and end up with a sick kid.
