I'm annoyed
DH & I got my MIL ballet tix for her birthday, and the ballet is tonight. I HATE the ballet, for whatever reason. DH is working tonight and MIL's boyfriend refuses to ever do anything with her that he doesn't like -- which is total BS to me since DH & I do things for each other that we don't particularly like (I go to the car and bike shows every year, etc). That is part of being in a RELATIONSHIP. (DH & I cannot stand MIL's boyfriend in case you can't tell!). So, anyway, she asked me to go and I feel like I can't say, no, and I am annoyed

Sometimes when we don't want to go somewhere, we end up having a great time.
This might not be your cup of tea but try to make the most of it. Try to enjoy.

I know, it is not the biggest deal in the world, real problems in life are much bigger, it just annoys me that I am always the one that has to go to these things. DH works funky hours, MIL's live in boyfriend refuses, and it is always me. I never get appreciated or brownie points for it either so it annoys me.

I'm not a big ballet fan either - and have been pressured to accompany friends on occassions too. Try to find a nice older guy when you go so she can see what a jerk her bf is...

Next time get her a gift that in case the boyfriend doesn't want to go, you'd love going.
