So all this TAX talk has me wondering...
For those that get $$ back in taxes, where does the average $$ you get back fall?
Oh last number should be $16000+

b/w the 2 of us we probably will get under 2k. i ain't exactly rolling in the dough, and chris is training to be an engineer for the lirr so he does not makle millions either.
but its cool, b/c we don't expect a lot back, but if we do, its a nice surprise

Last year we got about $1700 (due to student loan interest, and DH and I both teach, so union dues, travel to conferences, professional memberships, classes I took, supplies I bought, etc.) were all deductible.
This year, with the house, we think we'll get more.

Actually, we get quite a bit back because of business expenses and because of the house. That is what boosts up the return. But I agree with you - when you get a big return it's like lending the government money for free!
