Don't know what to do...
My DD is just crying all the time. She hasn't been napping well and is just crying mainly at night. Anyone have any suggestions? She's almost 3 weeks. I just feel like I'm inadequate and don't know what she needs. She seems sooo tired, but just won't go down. How do you stay calm? The past 3 days have been really rough.

What is her sleep & feeding schedule? Is she on breastmilk or formula?
I know that sleep begets sleep, so if she isn't napping well she'll wake more during the night. Post her schedule & we'll see if we can make suggestions to help you out.
Chin up! Having a baby is a huge adjustment. I'm only calm because mine are older & can tell me what's wrong.

She has been feeding every 3 hours sometimes 4 and is on Similac Alimentum. Tonight she ate 4oz at 5:30 and then was screaming at 7:15 so I tried giving her more and she ate an 1 1/2oz more.
She was napping 3 hours at a time, but now I'm lucky if it's 1 1/2 - 2. I've been trying to watch for tired signs and not keep her up to make her overtired, but that doesn't work because she won't sleep. Right now she is just crying and crying. DH has her and I just feel so bad that I don't know what she wants.
I checked her diaper, feed her, rocked her, swaddled...nothing.....

Is she colicky? Does she have a certain time where she cries alot? Why not try to rock her with some white noise in the background, or near the washer or dryer.
Don't beat yourself up about not being able to read her signals, that takes a while to get down pat! She is only new and you are only a new mother, so relax and just trust your instincts. And I always say, if you feel that you need a break, put her in her crib and let her cry for a few minutes, walk away and give yourself some breathing time. No baby has every died of crying! So don't be afraid to let her cry.
Look after yourself, because stressed Mommy equals stressed baby!

DD had a growth spurt at 3 weeks and she was doing the same thing. Once we started feeding her more she was fine.

My daughter was colicky and I found that the only thing that worked was to put her near the vaccuum, crazy as it sounds white noise works!
Did you try mylicon? maybe she has bad gas pains...
don't feel like a bad mommy, you are doing everything you can!

Try the Mylicon...Animal had a vicious crying fit at 3 weeks exactly and the drops helped tremendously

She's on Alimentum? Is that for a milk protein allergy? Maybe she is still too sensitive to the dairy enzymes?

Don't worry things will get better.
As someone mentioned, perhaps she is going through a growth spurt. My DS was very bothersome when he was going through it at almost 3 wks. Try to feed her whenever she will take the milk, I know he was eating a LOT more when he went through growth spurts.

My first guess is the formula...something is causing her pain.
Why is she on the special formula? Is she ever calm? will anything calm her down?

DD started that at about 3 weeks also. She would cry from 8pm till 2am. it lasted for about 6 weeks But now she sleeps 12 hours and only wakes up once. I don;t have any advice except hang in there, its not you, and sleep when you can.

Thanks everyone. Is so good to have support from other mommies. She isn't always crying, but there are times when she just won't stop. She is on special formula because she had a very bad reaction to the regular stuff. The ped said as long as she is eating, pooping, passing gas this formula is right for her. I know it will get easier...It's so hard to stay calm when she is just screaming!!
I appreciate all your support and advice. You guys are great.
