Sooo I went to my 1st NASCAR race....PICS ADDED FOR THOSE WHO KNOW MY LOVE OF DEJR & ANYONE WHO NEEDS A LAUGH!
It was amazing but very odd at the same time!!!
1) I needed a tiny lil bandaid and had to go to a makeshift ER and fill out paper work...to recieve a hospital bracelet. It took a 5 minute arguement and me screaming at the top of my lungs " I REFUSE TREATMENT" and " I WANT MY ATTORNEY" to get the f'n bandaid.
2) The guy who sang America the Beautiful....was a guy I went to HS with!!!
3) Even after 1 and 2 were awful it was the best experience ever!!!
 
ETA: Don't be frightened by the pic of dale jr and i..it was a looooong day, lol

I LOVE going to the races. Unfortunately DEjr did not finish But it was a good race...that Denny Hamlin is a great rookie...lets see how he does for the Champion Chase.
DH & I went to Daytona last year, and are going to Charlotte in October & the to Vegas in March. We are fans...just a little.
Congrats on your first race!

tyvm...we left after dejr was out to start the drive home. is daytona as awesome as ppl build it up to be?? we are going there in febrary!

DAYTONA IS SOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!
OMG it was the best thing ever. I thought I would be bored after 4 days of racing, but let me tell you I did not want it to end (especially with Gordon winning ). It was a blast. I am so jealous you are going in Feb! It is such a good time!

Wow if the Penn 500 was amazing for us I cannot even imagine Daytona in February!! TY so much for your opinion of it...OMG now I cannot wait!!

OMG yes. We went with a tour to Daytona that chartered us back to the hotel & I am glad we did...it took 2 hours to get to Altamonte Springs from Daytona.
The hotels that are within walking distance of Dayonta sell out up to 3 years in advance for Race Week. (Spring & Summer)

We are staying at a Days Inn on the beach...the only thing besides slums that were available 8 months in advance!
We left on lap 100 yesterday and there was already a mass exodus at the halfway point!!! We will probably leave Daytona at the halfway point, too!!

No one left Daytona early form what I remember, and most people stayed and tailgated after the race was over (as we did, that is why it took us so long to get out.)
That is awesome that you got a hotel! You are soooo lucky!

I got back around 2 in the morning. We left on Fri . The race was ok. Not enough action. It was cool to goto a Super Sppedway though. Bristol is still my fav. My boy Nyan Newman didnt fair so well in this race.

we used to go to Watkins Glen (upstate NY, in August) for a few years. Dad was a big NASCAR nut. But it was fun - and lots of INTERESTING people!

oh yeah, the ppl were very interesting and SUPER friendly...something I am not used to here
We went to the "Super" WalMart on saturday an when we were leaving these two guys came up to us and randomly started talking to us about the race and what to do...i thought it was odd till i realized I had #8 stuff all over the back of my truck.
Then when we were at the race this cute old man taught me how to count cars so I knew what place Jr was in!!
