Anyone use Castor Oil??
I'm getting impatient. I have been 1 cm for over 3 weeks now!!!  Both families go away on Wednesday and I'm looking for any way to induce myself lol.
I have heard good and bad things about castor oil. Has anyone here actually ever used it?
Thoughts?
Where do you get it?

I personally have never used it....but my mother did back in the day and it put her in labor a few hours later...I know of another person that used it, but ended up getting sick as a dog from it....she never ended up going into labor....I hear it tastes nasty

I agree too. It can reek havoc on your system and not even work!
Hang in there, it will happen soon! I can promise you won't be pg forever
I was the same as you, i was 1 cm forever! I went from nothing but 1 cm to giving birth 24 hours later.

Yes, I did under advisement of my NP she gave me the Formula for the "castor oil cocktail)
My contractions were pretty wicked but no other problems.

I agree.... I was a week late and tempted, but decided against it when I read some of the side effects - severe cramping, diaherra, etc...

I went 10 days late so I know how tough it is at the end. I contemplated anything that would help induce labor, but I read a lot of really bad things about castor oil. I did try raspberry leaf tea, but it didn't help one bit.

I didn't try it, but a few of my friends swear by scrubbing a floor. Two of my friends scrubbed the kitchen/bathroom floors and went into labor shortly thereafter. I don't know how appealing that is to you at the moment, but if you are really desperate, it might be worth a try. Good luck!

I would honestly try other things before that, if you're that desperate. Things that won't screw with your system. For example, I know there was an eggplant parmesean recipe out there that supposibly did the trick for a lot of people. I'm certain there was a thread about it somewhere. I'd really only go for the castor oil as a LAST resort.

Okay: Going for long walks, having sex, drinking raspberry tea, drinking primrose oil, that eggplant recipe (which I'm still trying to find), giving yourself an enema  , eating fresh pineapple, or taking black cohosh. There's a LOT more, but those were the main ones.

Don't do it! Castor oil can cause your baby to pass meconium while in the womb, and if he/she inhales it it can be fatal. Let nature take its course!

A friend of mine used it and and she went into labor an hour later.. her Dr reccommended it as she was late also.

its been almost 3 hrs. no real sign/symptoms. some minor cramping but nothing to worry about yet. no bathroom issues either.
i know someone who had 2 kids and her dr recommended it both times and it worked.
i dont think its going to work for me though. i'll just have to wait it out!

How did you take it, did you do the cocktail?
Most people I know, like myself who have done it under medical advisment haven't had a problem at all. Most of the people whom I have met who don't recommend it " have heard its bad"
