I'm obsessed with vacation planning

I'm dying to book a vacation - even though we can't until we know for sure were DH is interning in the fall (one place he's applying to would have him start the Monday after classes ended in July - which would mean no vacation ).

We don't want to spend more than $2500 (as we'll still be living pretty much off my salary again next year - although he will get a stipend for his internship).

We're looking at:
all inclusives in Punta Cana
Las Vegas
Disney (we could use my parents timeshare just off disney property).
Carriebean Cruise

Would you suggest an all inclusive resort over, say, going to vegas? We figure in the end it would probably cost the same.

Any other suggestions for less than $2500 in early August?

We did an all inclusive in Punta Cana in August for about $2500... it was Secrets.

I'm sure you can do Vegas for a week for under $2500... there are always tons of deals for hotels and packages there.

I think it depends what kind of vacation you want. Sitting by the beach doing nothing or doing sightseeing.

All the places you've listed sound cool...

you have a few very different type vacations there..
Depends what your in the mood for.
If im going to disney next month, then I would usually opt for the caribbean for my next trip.. just to have some relaxtion in my year.

You can get good deals on Vegas and also caribbean at any given time.
When you know your dates play around with the prices and maybe that will help you decide.

if you go to Dominican Republic, I recommend Iberostar resorts (we stayed at two and they were great!!!) and I am sure you can go there for $2500.00...

I have stayed at the IB Lindo.. it was an amazing vacation. Beautiful resort..very VERY big though..
