Removing Spill Proof Spout in Sippy Cups...
can I do this or should I say, should i do this?
Ava is having a really hard time transitioning from the bottle to the sippy cup. I think part of it has to do with that they make it so damn hard to get anything out. I tried it and I have to really ****..
So when the spill proof valve is not in, it seems to come out easier. However, it does spill..
Anyone ever do this. Oh and I tried the Nuby... Big deal. She manages to get the side handles off and has a ball with them... She can get it out of the cup, but she still would rather play with the stupid handles.

I remove it all the time. Just watch for spilling though.

I've removed the spill proof spout from ours before and put it back in and it worked fine.

Do you remove it so she can get at what is inside it easier?? I was just wondering if that is the trick to try because I don't think she is really getting anything out.

I removed it so she could get what was inside easier -- yes -- but I eventually moved onto a different cup.
We now use the disposable ones -- take n toss --- they are the easiest for her to get something out of. they dont have handles but she's able to drink from them just fine, so it works for me.
She likes the Tupperware ones too. She can get something out of them.

Does she hold it properly? If you take it out it will definitely help with the flow, but it might be everywhere, especially when she turns it upside down. 
Have you tried sippy cups with straws? My Kevin (11 months today) isn't too keen on sippy cups (probably b/c I'm slacking  ), but he loves drinking his brother's milk from a straw.

What brand of cups with straws?
I got the Nuby cups with straws. They leak like crazy.!

I just use the plain Nuby's and they have never leaked (they don't have any valves either).

Maybe i have a defected one then or maybe when I took it apart to clean in initially, I didn't put the valve back in properly.
This whole sippy cup thing is driving me crazy! I know there are worse things re: parenting, so please forgive my drama.
Thank you all so much for your advice. I really appreciate it.
I have some good news. Ava took two naps today with out a bottle... :))) I think I made her so tired, she didn't care. Hope it lasts!
