Holy S--T !!! Manny to the METS ??? Could happen by noon tomorrow !!!!
Tampa Bay, Boston, and the Mets are working on a 3-way trade.
The Mets would end up with Manny Ramirez and Danny Baez (from TB).
The Sox would get Aubrey Huff and Mike Cameron.
Tampa Bay would get a ton of very good prospects.
The Mets would be giving up Milledge and Petit (their best hitting and pitching prospect).
The Sox were giving up Stoppach (their best Catching prospect - currently blocked by the Varitek signing).
This would be ownage for the Mets. They fill the two biggest holes they have (a bat, and a top tier reliever).
Baez has been getting shelled recently (no thanks to Lou)... but he has KILLER stuff. He was the one reliever I wanted to see on the Mets (next to BJ Ryan).
And Manny is... Manny.
The deal was put on hold cause Boston felt like they were getting screwed and want more players in the deal.
They set a noon deadline for Saturday to make the deal or dump it.
We'll see!

He leads the majors with 96 RBIs. He has 28HRs. And is batting somewhere around .270-.280.
What do you think? 
But now Mets.com is reporting Baez might be going to Boston.
No Baez to the mets = NO DEAL (imo)
For this trade to work... the Mets need BOTH Baez and Manny.

I'll tell you one thing... if Boston sends Manny to the Mets... you can pretty much hand the Yanks the NL East.
With Clement out with a liner to the head... an inconsistent Shilling... and no Manny batting cleanup... the Yanks should overtake the East.

see, that goes to show you how out of the loop i've been...i didn't even know clement took one to the head!!! 
so you think Manny holds Boston up that much?? and if so, isn't that a plus for the Mets? or is it too late in the season for them to play catch up??

The Mets GM has a goal to make a major push for 2006.
The Pedro signing.... Benson signing... Beltran here for at least a year... Wright with one more year to get better.... MANNY.
It works right into the Mets plans.
The problem with this deal is... Boston is being the hard-on... saying they want more players in the deal. So it may not happen.
Clement took a line drive right off his head. It was all over the sports news (happened a few days ago). Taken off in a stretcher.
He will be out for at least a few weeks minimum.

They are still talking about this trade. Its not likely... but its still a possibility.
The ball is in Boston's court. They were the ones that wanted more from the Mets and the Mets said no.
But Manny has been running his mouth the last two days... got into a confrontation with Schilling.
It Boston wants to deal him so bad... the trade may happen.

Three-team deal is out.
Now the Mets are trying to negotiate with Boston directly.
Lastest talks are Manny plus 15million for Cameron and the two top Mets prospects.
I am not sure if I like this deal as much as the last one... cause we are still short on relief.
But after this Houston series... the Mets are probably not going to make the wild card this year and need to build towards 2006. 
Manny would be a nice upgrade to the lineup. But I am not sure if I want to give up both Petit and Milledge (prospects). Maybe one of them... yeah.

I agree - I don't want to sell the farm (no pun intended) for 2005, when we are fading very quickly. Lets face it, going into the season, we were hoping for some 'meaningful' games in September, but no one thought we would make the playoffos. This is a rebuilding year.
Personally, I would wait until the offseason to try and get Manny. Boston will be under more pressure to trade him.

The trade is officially not happening. At least for now. I agree as well that we should try to get him in the offseason.
