Not yet, but we really should. Bama got really sick after his neuter, and we spent over $1000 before he was well again 
VPI has insurance for pets, and you can also get it through the AKC.
If anybody has any advice on if it's good or bad, I'd love to hear!

hi. i've had insurance for my cocker spaniel since he was 3 months old (he's 4 yrs now) i pay arounf $220 a yr. but i think that depends on the age and breed of your dog.
i use vpi:
veterinary pet insurance

Which plan do you have with them, standard or superior? Does it include routine care and vaccinations? How does it all work out? I think I am going to do it.

We have the same insurance and are happy with it
me too! Have it for my kitty. She used it alot as a kitten, but she's been better now. I have the superior plan with routine check up insurance. It's like $24 a month.

For the first year I had superior cause it covered shots and stuff. Now I just have standard.

I've been wondering who to use for pet insurance. I just signed up for this one today...wish I would have done it before Tyson had all of his vaccinations Better late than never I guess.

Can I ask a stupid question? I can't figure out from their website how it works. Do I pay the fee to the vet and then the insurance company reimburses me a certain amount? If so, how do you know what amount they cover? I can't seem to understand this for some reason. Am I being a real dummy?

We pay the vet, fax or mail in the claim and receipt then get reimbursed.

We pay the vet, fax or mail in the claim and receipt then get reimbursed.
This is how it works. You never know how much you get back but it's always a decent amount.
