Wish me luck...today is..UPDATED
Casey's first day home and not in the crate while we are at work. We normally leave her out on the weekends because we are in and out of the house for a few hours at a time...but there have been days when we are out for 6 or 7 hours. So we figured maybe we should take a chance and try it. The only thing I am worried about is chewing! Which has been less frequent..every few months. So I left plenty of chew toys and the blinds open so she could look outside!  
eta: My DH just got home and she was sleeping  Nothing chewed or anything!! Woo hoo!

How old is she? We keep trying with Misty and she is okay for a day or two and then she goes and does something bad and we have to crate her again. I hate crating her, but it seems like she still isn't ready

YAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! It is a BIG step, I remember how nervewrecking it was when we first left Barney out, (we started when he was 8mos)....but it did all work out. A few chewed shoes in the beginning, but we learned to pick everything up, and he has been perfect ever since...(OKAY NOW I AM JIXING MYSELF, LOL)
It will all be good!!!

thank you  She just turned 2. We started out slowly...leaving her out for a few hrs at a time on the weekends.

We leave Rudy out and SURPRISINGLY he is good. We close all the doors and gate the upstairs and kitchen.... I honestly think he lays around all day. Sometimes I want to set up a hidden camera to watch!
The only time we had a problem is when we had the blinds down and ripped them down and then ate them... HE HAS TO LOOK OUTSIDE
