How old was DC when you traveled...
for a few days or more?
DH has told me he scheduled a trip for us this weekend. We leave Friday morning and we're gone until Tuesday. (MIL will be babysitting.) I'm kind of nervous, or more like nauseous  , about it. (BWT, DD is 2.5 months.)

I still haven't and Luka will be 6 months old tomorrow. I am still haven't left him for longer than 5 hours. We were invited to go away for New Years Eve and he will be 8.5 months then and I can't do it. I think I need to start because I want him to able to sleep anywhere but it is so hard. Maybe I will start with me and home and him at my moms (she lives 5 minutes from me).
Also that was so sweet of your DH to surprise you with a getaway like that.

we went to Miami for 4 days this past May...our son was 11 months old. he was with my parents & didn't miss us at all...

We did one nighters often starting at about 5-6 months. The first time we did 4 days away from our kids was last year (aged 4 &2).
Don't wait that long. It'll be the best thing for the two of you to get away and Jill is too young to notice. Don't forget to bring a photo of her.

First overnight was at 11 months, a few days/nights was at 12 months. If I had my mother or MIL around to watch him, it would have been WAY before that!
It's so much easier when they are too young to realize. Go and enjoy!

We went to California last month. Jordana was almost 5 months. She was great!!!!
ETA: I didn't realize you were leaving the baby. I haven't left her yet. I'm sure the baby will be fine with your IL.

DD is 1 and I haven't left her yet and don't have any plans to. I'm just not ready. We bring her with us on any trips we take.

DS is almost 4 months old and we have left him overnight a few times. Twice, it was because we were at weddings on LI and would get home late, so we left him overnight at my mom's.
The other time we left him with my brother and SIL while we went to a wedding in Maryland. He was there from late Friday night until Sunday morning.
I think you should enjoy your get-away!

We are leaving DD with my parents next weeken for 4 days - we are going to Jamaica for SIL's wedding. DD will be 4 1/2 mos old. I'll miss her but we are looking forward to getting some sleep!
