Re: Chinese new year-Teachers!
Well, I'm a high school teacher (English), so I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but...coincidentally, my juniors have been reading The Joy Luck Club, so I think for Chinese New Year I'm going to have each of them create personal "posters" that depict aspects of their lives/personalities in Chinese characters; for example, daughter, friend, cheerful, etc...

Re: Chinese new year-Teachers!
Well I am on bedrest right now but I usually teach my kids Gung hay fat Choy. I give them red envelopes with a fake dollar. We also have a chinese lunch for them. I of course read a story: Sam and the LUcky Money. I teach special ed so I try to make it simple but educational so they have a back ground. I will also go on some websites to find fun worksheets for them for homework
