Thank you GOD for giving me a job on LI!
after reading all of the LIRR HORROR stories, I have never felt so privileged to work on LI!  
if I had to commute on the LIRR I would be in anger management classes!

DH used to commute to N Bergen, NJ. Now he takes the LIRR to NYC.
He is a much happier commuter!
But he takes a super-early train that EVERYONE sleeps on.
On the way home, also full of commuters who for the most part know how to behave. I think the worst offenders are during "off hours" -- when I am on the train!

I do have to say that if you think the LIRR is bad now...you should have ridden it 15 years ago when I started working in the city...talk about HORRIBLE!! 1/2 the trains didnt have AC/Heat...or you would have heat in the summer and AC in the winter...Penn station was homeless hotel....so dirty and dangerous!!
