hernia in infants (girls)
Anyone have a daughter that developed a hernia? Saw a mass on her upper left leg where it connects to her stomach and took her in to the doc today. Turns out it's a hernia and are going to see a pediatric surgeon on Wed. Doc says it's nothing to worry about now though chances are she will have to have a procedure in the future. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience... From what I've been reading, it's very common in premature babies though she was only 3 weeks early. The hernia is the least harmful of the types, but I'm already feeling so bad for this little one.

My sister had one and the ped. said it would go away on its on. My mother just left it. My brother on the other hand had to have surgery at 2 or 3 years old. See what the doctor says tomorrow.

Thank you. That's comforting to hear. I hope it's the same case for dd.

Maddie was born with a hernia. Pediatrician checked it at every appointment & it healed on its own.
