Christening Question
My sister is going to be the Godmother to my Nephew. She wants to know if it is customary as Godmother to purchase him a cross as his gift????
The oldest boy has a gold cross.
She wants to know if she can get him a silver one, or should it be gold? (Italian Catholic Mother)

I didn't get a cross for my godson for his christening. The Godfather got him that. I got him a Gold ID bracelet and a ring...not much jewelry you can get for a boy... But I also bought him his christening outfit with all the accessories as it is a customary for the godmother to do that.

I think it is customary for the godmother to purchase the cross. My sons God mother did this and she bought him white gold, which I think is ok as well and they come from a very italian fmaily.
I detest yellow gold anyway.

That's what happened for my son's christening as well and I've seen most typically.
