Bad day yesterday and last night..

So yesterday was a horrible day for Jacob. He was awake from 1pm yesterday afternoon until 11pm last night. then he was up again every 45 min to an hour from 1am on. He was crying, crying, crying... and OMG the farting that he was doing!! I felt so bad for him. I could actually hear his stomach gurgling with gas. He was so tired, his eyes kept closing halfway or rolling into the back of his head, and then boom, up again sreaming from the pain. Then he finally took a montrous poop at like 11 last night, and fell asleep for 2 hours after that. I dont understand why an infant must suffer so much with gas, cant they give them anything?? I have tried gripe water, mylicon, bicycling, laying on his left side.. I am off to a G.I. Dr this week, maybe he has some answers. I am a walking zombie here, and my heart is just breaking....

you might want to try formula without iron. or even soy formula w/out iron.

Our daughter had a problem with one formula and she used to cry in pain and I had to be insistant to the dr that it was the formula. He acted like I was a first time mom and didn't know what I was talking about. I finally tape recorded her screams and brought it in and then he knew that I was telling the truth. It took 3 different formulas to get to one she could tolerate the best. Be persistant. You know your child better than anyone. Good luck>

Thanks for the advice girls, although this is the 3rd formula now that i am on. He was on similac advance with iron, then switched to enfamil prosobee, and now enfamil nutramigen... I dont know what else to try!

The Nutramigen is what we ended up giving our daughter. She tolerated that one best and unfortunately it was so expensive.
I've heard great things about Carnation Good Start. Maybe you can ask the dr about trying that one. I will try that one with this baby after I try BF for a few months. I just didn't like what my daughter went through with the Enfamil.

I had to switch my son to Alimentium and stop eating dairy fro myself, since he gets some breast milk. HE has a milk intolerance, and had bloody stool, we could not see the blood, but when they tested it they saw it. He is fine now that we switched him. I have heard that some kids can not tolerate the powdered form of Alminetium, but the RTF is fine fro them, since the powdered has a corn product in it. I go to Dr Moy in Schneiders Children Hospital and she has been great.

Also, I was able to get my insurance to cover a portion fo the cost of the formula.

It can be the reflux too. I am so sorry you have to go through this. We still have days/nights like this with Miranda between gas/poops/reflux it sometimes seems like a no win situation.
Overall though it does start to slowly get better with time as their little bodies mature.
