Sometimes I wish I could smack people.

Ok, let me first say that I LOVE my family to death. I'm very close with them, however, sometimes they need a good azz-kicking. My aunt told me two weeks ago that NEXT Saturday, whatever the date is, she's having a party for my cousin who just graduated mid-year. Ok, fine. I tell her I'll be there. My mom just calls me and says, "Your aunt wants to know if you're going to Nicole's party." GRR! I ALREADY TOLD HER YES! Ok, fine. So my mom says, "OK, then I'll see you later." So I immediately thought, "Later? When later?" So I asked my mom what she meant, and she said, "At you aunt's house, hello!?" So I told my mom, she said NEXT Saturday. So my mom proceeds to tell me, "Oh, no, she changed her mind during the week, it's today instead."
Well, was anyone going to f-ing tell me? I have so much to freaking do today
But saying no is never an option with my family because I'll hear about it until next freaking year. They really freaking annoy me sometimes. Whatever your plans are do not matter because the family is supposed to come first ARGH!

How frustrating! I'd be livid, but probably end up doing the same thing you're doing and going.

I would call my aunt and say sorry you can't make it because you thought the party was the following week, and that you already had plans scheduled for today. Ask why she didn't call to tell you of the change of date.

Maybe offer to take your cousin to a special lunch soon, just the 2 of you to make up for it.

Cute thought, but considering I haven't registered and I haven't even given my mom the list for my shower yet, I doubt it This is a typical thing for them, unfortunately.

If you really can't do it today, then just don't go. Tell her that you planned on the party being next week, and unfortunately you already have plans for this weekend.

Well, I went because I called my aunt to tell her I didn't know it was this week and that she should have called me and I got completely chewed out, so to avoid the drama, I went. And, as I already knew, it was NOT my shower. It was exactly what I knew it would be....my family, sitting around, being loud and obnoxious. Love em for it, but today I was just so annoyed. The only good thing was that I didn't need to make dinner tonight, and I brought home food for JT. However, now my house is still a mess, I have no food for the week because I didn't go food shopping, and I'm too tired to go do any of that now. Stupid family!
