Did anyone James Frey on Oprah yesterday?
I am reading the book right now. I still don't understand how he had all that dental work with no anthesia (sp???) or pain killers.

The book was excellent. he was very mellow on Oprah, I expected him to be more eccentric, I was a little surprised at his demeanor.
As for the dental work, wait to you get to the toe nail part too  The man can stand physical pain, that is for sure

I missed it too 
When he had the root canal, he was only clean for a few days, maybe a week or so. They didn't want him using anything, because they were afraid it would trigger a relapse. He was in such bad shape when he was brought to rehab (he couldn't even remember how he got there) that they didn't want to take a chance in giving him painkillers.
Did they talk at all about when he went into the crack house to rescue his friend? I found that whole event amazing.....

I think that is VERY good!
Yes it is....My aunt who passed away last April was a recovered alcoholic. She hadn't drank in over 30 years.
Cancer can be EXTREMELY painful and it wasn't until the very end that she took any pain medication....
We were all amazed

My uncle and my aunt are the same way - nothing with alcohol - not even Nyquil. I give them alot of credit

It was really interesting see his family too.
I saw the Oprah when she announced his book and his mom was in the audience. It was so awesome.

I made dinner so fast that I was amazed I got it done so quickly. I just  the book. I wasn't expecting him to be anything but a regular guy. He came off as so down to earth & just normal(whatever that is)
