Did I make a huge mistake ? Crib Purchase related...

Hi all, I recently purchased this crib, it was a gift and we were re-imbursed by m-i-l. We just received it 2 weeks ago and put it together this week - the problem is that the base that the mattress goes on it a piece of flexible wood, or make-believe wood, it is not metal and springs - is this normal? I wonder what weight it can hold?

Anyone else have one without the metal springs?

I haven't gotten my crib yet so I can't really help but does it feel secure? I know for my personal bed, I just have roping that keeps the mattress up and it's perfectly secure.

We have a crib from JcPenney that has a wood piece at the bottom, not metal and springs. It is a very sturdy crib, my 3 year old has climbed in there and it help up well. I think as long as the board is firm and doesn't bend when you put pressure on it it should be ok.

no mistake . my crib does not have metal and springs either, just a wooden plank, so to speak. both my kids have used it, never had a problem, by the way that crib is beautiful.

Thank you all, I was like what the HE** is that - it is a plank of wood, I seems sturdy, but I am not sure what weight it would hold.

Whew....I was getting nervous!
