Spinoff: When job interviewing, has anyone actually asked you for proof of your salary?
Like a pay stub or a formal letter? I've never been asked.

it happened to my friend- she got asked for a pay stub
it freaked her out b/c she had lied but not by much
I bumped up my salary $4K last week at my interview
but if I get offered the job I am asking for at least another $10K

Yes - especially in Finance. They do a VERY thorough investigation - including a credit report.

Nope. I'm in HR - I've had to confirm people's salaries on numerous occasions - even after they've left the company.

You could justify this with OT (if eligible) or year end bonuses if it's a verbal check. W-2 will tell all though.

When FH was applying to jobs he had to produce stubs, W2s and official letters from HR

Yes I have had to provide proof of salary on more than one occassion. I have been asked for copies of pay check stubs.
I am also in HR, and I have verified salary on a number of occassions. I have found a number of people who increased their salary on their apps, and they do not receive a job offer solely based on that.

Yes...and for DH since he's in commission he had to prove his numbers.
Almost every job asked me for this.
