Mommies...does this sound like a good deal for pics?
There is a local photographer that apparently is amazing...
She has a "Baby Club" where for $150 you get the following:
pics at 3 month
6 month
9 month
12 month (at the 12 month, she gives the baby a cake & hat, and let's them go to town while photographing THEN gives them a bath and does the bathtub pics)
a free 8 x 10 at each shoot, NO sitting fee, plus a portrait of either a maternity photo OR a mother & child photo after birth. Apparently she also makes a collage of the babys; hands, feet, belly button, etc.
20% off on all reprints (no mind you-I have my dad, my "real" mom, my sis, my grandmother, PLUS my IL, and 2 SIL that will want pics PLUS my best friend)
I was thinking of doing this for US, and then for giving out pics, doing the Target/Kmart/cheaper studios.

I heard about her from another mother....maybe there is a photographer near you that might do something similar

It sounds like a great deal but most likely you'll love the pics and spend a bundle because you'll want to share these pictures instead..
What does she charge for reprints? or does she allow you to keep negatives??

While there is no sitting fee, doing the math you are giving her $50 per sitting in advance which includes a total of 4-8x10s and a cake. I just looked at a photographer's website that I really like, she charges $130-260 for a sitting fee. She's also won a Kodak Gallery Award. If you like her work then I would say go for it. Just make sure you realize that you are paying her for her time and don't be fooled by packages.
Oh & more importantly - we want to see them :)
