Re: Moral Quandry...how do I hand THIS work situation?

I would ask her to replace it. She borrowed a book she should return a book.

ETA...I say this b/c you promised it to someone else. Would they be able to borrow another copy?

If you really don't need the book anymore, than take the money over her replacing it

take the money...then you got the book for free and won't have to deal with lending it out again.

When my coworker was studying for the certification test, she asked to borrow my guide.

The guide cost $25. I told her to make sure she didn't lose it because someone else wanted to borrow it after her.

I've asked her twice for it back, the most recent time I was very firm. She stated that she can't find it, but will look for it again. I reminded her that I am lending it to someone else so that person doesn't have to spend the $25 on it.

She said, "I'll look again. If I can't find it, I'll just give you the $25"

I responded with, "I don't want your $25, I want the certification guide. Look for it again."

SO, what do I do? I know she's not going to find it. Do I take her money? Make her go out and buy a new one? (which I don't even need anymore)

I would take her $$. Don't feel bad! She borrowed something and she should have been responsible enough to return it. Too bad now...Chat Icon
