I have to go back to work in 3 weeks and am having a really hard time weaning my baby off the breast. He wants nothing to do with a bottle.. any tips?

Re: breast feeding.

Well, just because you are going back to work doesn't mean you have to wean the baby off of the breast completely. You can still have a morning and evening feeding on breast, since it's still very beneficial to the baby even if it's just 2 feedings, and then the other feedings could be bottle.

Are you trying to give the baby pumped breast milk, or formula?

Also, have you tried many types of bottles? Some bottles are more similar to breast then others. I've heard that a lot of times babies hate some bottles and have no problem with others.

i agree, the early morning and bedtime feedings are so worth it to keep.....i don't have any weaning to bottle tips, but I hope that you are pumping and giving breast milk? good luck!

I find that Bryan only really likes dr Browns bottles and he usually wont take the bottle from me- try having some one else feed him- he associates you w the breast.

I agree, you don't need to wean. Also make sure you have someone else give him the bottle and you should leave the house so he doesn't smell you. When I went back to work with my 1st born, she was still nottaking the bottle as of my 1st day back, but like my Mom said, eventually she'll take it since she won't let herself starve. He'll take it, sometimes you hae to take the tough love approach, if he has no other option he'll take it. Also, make sure the nipple is warm.
