Cost of a new kitchen & bathrooms?

I know prices vary greatly according to style and size, but I was wondering if anyone can give me a ballpark of what an entire new kitchen and bathroom costs (to have it done professionally)

TIA

You really have to know what materials you want.

Will you be moving any existing plumbing lines or changing the layout considerable? That can add a lot.

What type of cabinets do you want? They range greatly in quality and finishes and therefore price.

Granite or formica or another type of counter?

Flooring?

Appliances? Upgraded or basic.

Are you replacing doors, windows, changing the layout?

Electrical... adding lights, or if you are redesigning redesigning the layout of cabinets and appliances then often you need to redesign the lighting scheme.

Size of the kitchen... the bigger it is, the more cabinets and cabinet price is basically second only to labor... if you are going with all solid wood.

My FIL is a kitchen designer (over 40 years in the business) but he doesn't just do plans for sale. We redid the kitchen in our first house before we sold and did much more extensive work on our second kitchen.

I'd allocate at least 30K for kitchen alone. Labor will be your biggest expense.

I would have to agree $30K is for basic renovations-but it would still look nice.

Re: Cost of a new kitchen & bathrooms?

We have gotten prices from HD and for the cabinets, countertop and countertop installation it will be $9,800. That does not include the installation of the kitchen (going to be done by someone else), tiles, appliances and lighting. We just did the flooring and windows so we won't have that expense.
I was figuring between $25-$30,000. My dh's cousin did theirs and paid $25,000.

Re: Cost of a new kitchen & bathrooms?

$25-30k is a good estimate for a total gut of the kitchen - update electric, plumbing, install nice cabinets, crown moulding, all new appliances, granite, etc. The more "upgrades" you have, the more it'll be from there.

Some places I met with started around $40k.

Bathrooms i hear are around $10k for a decent one and $15k for a really nice one.

Re: Cost of a new kitchen & bathrooms?

My friend gutted his bathroom - upgraded electric, added a spa tub and glass tile, everything else was moderate (and he didn't move any plumbing). He spent $15k.
