I work right near Republic Airport
and planes fly so low over and near my building all day....I never thought twice because most of them are small, but now, it's a little freaky!

I know they made a big deal a while back about opening some supermarket and the fear of low flying planes. I guess its no longer a big deal since they are putting in a hotel and retail store.

I work up the road from Morristown, NJ airport. It's alot like Republic as it's small and is all private aircrafts. The end of the runway is only divided by the major road (which I take to work) by a chainlink fence. Really scary

I have the window office and sometimes they look freaking close!
But, you're talking to someone who has actually been jetblasted. Yes, in St. Maarten, there's a bar on the water near the airport and you can watch all the international flights come in. Of course, you need to move off the beach when you see them coming, but I thought I had such a great view and as the Icelandic Airliner 747 flew over my head, I got knocked clear into the water and pelted with sand. Yeah, DH was so embarrassed and everyone at the bar was like....Are you okay?!

the problem with the supermarket is that it is right in the flight path - the hotel and walmart arent really near it.
i wish they would have built the supermarket where the walmart or hotel is - but oh well!

When I was commuting from Hofstra to my house in Miller Place I would take the LIE home and sometimes those planes fly LOW at exit 60 when they are going to MacArthur! I used to see them all of the time.

You see super low flying planes on the Grand Central going into LGA -- it almost feels like the planes will snag the fence at the end of the runway.
