Permanent French Nails Question
I have permanent french on now but I hear that there is a new form of "gel" instead of a tip or powder on nail.
Only had these on a month and my white tip has chipped off one nail already  
Anyone have the "gel" french? How does it work and hold up??

i had the gel i didnt like it, cause i felt like it didnt last as long adn was kind of bumpy, i def. perfer the powder..i think the chipping just happens when u type or wash dishes and stuff ya kno

Mine are put on with silk wrap, it's better for your nail underneath too! It doesn't damage them as bad as acrylic. I never have a chipping problem ever! I don't know where you live but I go to Capri Nail in Oceanside in the TJ Maxx shopping center, a new set is expensive but they are the best I've had and when you get a new set put on they give you a free pedicure!

I had the gel nails put on for my wedding. They lasted very well - over 3 weeks. It was the first time I ever had any kind of "fake" nails done and I was impressed.
I did have a nightmare trying to get them off and my nails underneath were ruined. I won't ever do it again but the did feel natural.

I go to angel tips in oceanside in the walgreens shopping center. I switched from the acrylic perm. french to the UV gel perm. french, what a difference! the Gel lasted longer, was much stronger too. the best part though is that even if you put polish on them, when u take it off they are still shiny and look brand new... I LOVE them!
they are more expensive though, but u can go 3-3 1/2 weeks without a fill in so it evens out IMO.

the new set of french is $70 and then you get the free pedi,i was going to all these other places that were cheaper and either the nails came out bad or I felt the place wasn't clean enough, that's why I like this place, it's clean and they are very good to the customers, I can't remember the fill in off hand, the number is 516-536-8885
I wish I could remember the name of the girl who does my nails, she is really good

I was wondering about these UV Permanent french nails
I have very nice regular nails - no silk wraps just get the reg. manicures weekly.
My manicures wear off very quickly and I hate the way my nails look mid-week. Esp. when I go on a business trip and I have to have nice hands for doing the work I do - selling fabric.
Has anyone had the UV nails on top of their reg. nails without silk wraps or tips?
I just like the look of them and am looking for a lower maintence way to have nice nails.
Is this a bad idea?
I have heard mixed reviews...

I get the gel perm french
I go to georges in Long Beach-they last 3 weeks
I got the acrylic ones for my wedding- and hated the way they looked- they weren't as natural looking as the gel

I am going to go in to talk to them and see what they want to do...
I saw someone who got them near me (North Shore) and I was amazed at how good they look and nice and clean - not messed up like my nails at the end of the week!

I don't have wraps- they put the gel over my nail- and build out if they need too- they use pink gel for the bottom part and then clear on top
it's not the same as a UV gel manicure- they use the uv light- but it's a different process
edited- they way I see it- is it's $35 for 3 weeks of nice nails- vs me going and getting 3 manicure for $8 bucks each and having to sit there 3 different times

OK so I am still not sure....what is the best option for keeping your nails heathlier underneath??? I just do not want to have them totally wrecked when I decide to remove the overlay...

To update this old thread, I took my gel nails off a few wks after my wedding and WHOA, never again will I do that UV gel stuff.
I could not get them off after soaking for an hr.
That is some heavy duty stuff!!!!
My nails are in recovery

That's what I am wondering - but my friend told me that when she became pregnant, she took off the UV nails.
She said once they were off, her nails weren't great but she took the prenatal vitamins and said that they grew in. You just have to be patient.
If I love the ways my nails look & I don't plan on taking them off for a while, then I think it should be fine.
Does anyone know where they do they Light Concept Nails near Great Neck?

FYI, UV Gel and Light Concept Nails are two totally different things.
I posted a thread a few weeks ago looking for a place. Bellepaige referred me to a place in Brooklyn and I found 2 in NYC. I haven't had mine done yet because I too am looking for somewhere in LI

I had the permanent french UV gels.
Here's 2 shots of my nails:
My salon used the Young Nails "Synergy Gel". I miss them terribly!
FWIW, your nails will get ruined no matter what type of product you use on them.

No, I ended up feeling soo jellyish that I ended up going home afterwards. But I found two salons in the city that does them.. I just have to GO lol

It's more like a protective coating, rather than something that clogs the nail and weakens it. It's recommended for people with weak or brittle nails.
