Photoshop question ~Totally clueless~

I've seen so many people making beautiful invitations with borders, fonts and pictures using photoshop. All I know is how to upload a picture and change it from black/white with a little color in it. How do I set up an invitation using photoshop??

File --> New --> set your page size here

Make your resolution at least 300 for print

Window --> Styles - to open your styles window


Window --> Tools - has all your drawing tools
Click on the shape.. a sub menu will show up with different shapes. Select on and draw on your canvas. Click and drag a style onto your shape.

If you want to change the size of your shape you can transform it by pressing CTRL + T
Drag the boxes.

Window --> Layers. Everytime you create a new shape it is given a new layer. In this window you can delete and modify the layers and shapes.
ETA: In the tools window click the T and then your canvas and you can write on it.
Window --> Characters will open up the properties for text
