Scheduled c-sections

I'm not PG but I like to lurk here. I love kids. I have 8 nieces and nephews, 2 great-nephews and another nephew on the way. I can't wait to start my own family once DH and I buy a house or condo. Anyways I was watching one of the morning shows the other day and they were talking about scheduled c-sections. One woman said she doesn't want to go through labor so her doctor scheduled a c-section for her. Some doc's are against for obvious reasons. I am sure no one wants to go through labor but this seems a little weird to me.

I think it is a misconception that C-Sections are easy. Sure you don't have to squeeze a baby'd head through a extremely small space - but women have been doing it for generations and our bodies are made to handle it. My cousin was scheduled to have a C-Section (she had to have a c-section with first baby) and then went into labor 4 days before the scheduled day- and said the natural birth was much easier and less painful to recover from.

I had a c-section because I had preclamsia, so I had my daughter 2 weeks early, I was sooooo nervous because I didnt know I was going to have one till I was at the doctors office that morning and my blood presure was threw the roof. Let me tell u it was no problem at all for me, I was very sore dont get me wrong, but I really had no problem getting up and walking around right after, and had very to no bleeding from my vagina. My girlfriend who had a vaginal birth, was in soooooo much pain down there she wanted to die! Hemroids the size of grapes, and allll that bleeding. She cried on the phone everyday to me, I felt so bad for her. She said next time i'm getting a c-section. I know everyone heals differently and can deal with pain differently too, but I'm happier I had the c-section. JMO

I had a c-section. It was a planned c-section because of the position my daugther was in. I had a fairly easy recovery initially. I am still now 8 months later having some tenderness though when I move certain ways or stretch certain ways.

I bled HEAVILY for 6 weeks after. It stunk! I am glad I missed the hemorroids and the tearing but I would never just schedule a c-section for the sake of not having labor. If people don't want to have labor and give birth then in my very honest opinion they should adopt one of the beautiful children that is already on this earth or they shouldn't have kids!

A c-section is still MAJOR surgery and not something to be done because someone wants to avoid labor

Not only do you have an external scar for the rest of your life, you uterus is cut as well as a lot of bruising that can occur to your internal organs, since they are all being moved and touched.

Also something else I just recently found out that when you have a c-section you can risk cross contamination of cells from other areas. My friend is having this issue and has 5 miscarriages since having she has been trying for her second child. Your body will not fight these cells because they are from your body but they do not belong in the area they are at. Because of this they are attacking every zygote that tries to implant in her.

I do not regret my daughters birth at all and I am sorry if it sounds that way I just hate people who take a c-section as an easy out!

I had a c-section with my son. It was scheduled, but I then went into labor the night before, but was still planning to have a c-section anyway.

I had to have one because of his size. He was measuring 9lb 12oz at 39 weeks. They were estimating him to be 1 lb off give or take. He ended up being 10lb 12oz! I'm glad I had one. I couldn't imagine pushing that size through!

I had a scheduled c-section because they were taking Ryan 10 days early, and since my body was not effacing or dialating, my DR strongly felt inducing me would lead to a c-sect anyway... (This is not all cases...plenty of people are induced and deliver vaginally...) He asked how I felt about a scheduled c-sect and I was perfectly fine with it!

I got up and walk that night.... as well as walked the halls the next day... Dont get me wrong...I was weak and sore...but I took the happy pill every 6 hrs. as suggested...and I was fine! The best way to recover is to walk around...
