People in the insurance industry
I am looking for a new job.. the company I work for now is great, but the workload is too much and the job itself is way too stressful. I work in auto insurance claims. ANyone work for a company that has openings??

I am looking to stay within Auto claims as an adjuster. I have almost 2 years experience with the entire claims handling process.
I have looked at Geico and know people that work there and they pay less than my company does for the same position. I am willing to take a SMALL pay cut to be happier but this darn mortgage makes it near impossible!

My friend is a trainer at Geico...left to come to EMpire BCBS with us, when got laid off went right back to Geico. Their pay is average and they do have perks I hear.

My friend is a trainer at Geico...left to come to EMpire BCBS with us, when got laid off went right back to Geico. Their pay is average and they do have perks I hear.
also, i heard they're moving their Woodbury office (to Buffalo, or something like that).. from a freind that works there.
and you can't take off at all in the first 6 months. (though, most jobs are like this- i heard they are VERY strict about it).

Many people at my job have worked for Geico and so did my SIL. Yes they are very strict about time off in the beginning and pay average to low in the industry. The perks are good (profit-sharing is awesome, which my company has too- love it!) but I didnt hear about them moving.. that office in Woodbury is huge!

Here is an article on it but they were talking about moving in 2004
So if im planning a vacation in august, I guess I shouldnt pursue the job at Geico. They called me the other day, but I was comtimplating(SP) calling them back.

i use to work there, stopped last year- i shudder every time i hear the name or see the geico commercial. dh warned me about them but i didnt listen
yes their profit sharing is good. On the flip side they are very strict on time in the morning yet, most people work(unpaid) an extra hour or two at night or a day on the weekend to catch up on their workload. and because they have good profit sharing their raises are pitiful. you also acrue your vacation instead of getting it at the begining of the year. and they dont tell you how many personal days you have, your boss decides if its worthy-
and p.s. --- dh aunts funeral was not worthy, so i had to use a VACATION DAY for it
liberty mutual i think is always hiring, what about checking them out

My company is the same as this and this is why I am leaving. I have been tossing around leaving for sometime but I just cant take it anymore. I hate hating where I work!

My GF is an actuary and worked in a MD office (near DC). She absolutely hated it. Everytime I talked to her she said she regretted relocated wor work for them. They were so strict with vacation like everyone said. They also are strict with internet, only industry related stuff allowed. Once she met her relocation obligation she went to work for AIG in NYC.

A few of my family members work there and LOVE the company.
My mom even has geico gecko magnets on her car.
